Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots of espresso (or 1/2 cup of strong brewed coffee)
  • 1 cup milk of your choice (dairy, oat, or almond work best)
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon smooth pecan butter (or 1/4 teaspoon pecan extract)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • Optional: Whipped cream and crushed toasted pecans for garnish

Instructions

  1. Brew two shots of fresh espresso or a half-cup of very strong coffee. Pour the hot coffee into a large mug and set it aside while you prepare the flavored milk mixture.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the milk, maple syrup, pecan butter (or extract), ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir constantly to ensure the pecan butter dissolves fully into the milk and the mixture doesn’t scorch.
  3. Once the milk mixture is steaming and small bubbles form around the edges, remove it from the heat. Use a hand frother or a whisk to foam the milk until it reaches your desired level of frothiness.
  4. Slowly pour the frothed maple pecan milk over your coffee in the mug. Use a spoon to hold back the foam so the liquid goes in first, then top the drink with the remaining fluffy foam.
  5. If you are feeling indulgent, top your latte with a dollop of whipped cream, a drizzle of maple syrup, and a sprinkle of crushed toasted pecans for a delightful crunch.
