2 shots of espresso (or 1/2 cup of very strong brewed coffee)
1 cup ice cubes
1 cup milk of your choice (whole, 2%, oat, or almond)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons water
Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
Extra cinnamon sugar (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and water. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar has completely dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the syrup cool slightly before using.
Brew two fresh shots of espresso using your espresso machine or Aeropress. If you do not have an espresso maker, brew 1/2 cup of very strong coffee using your preferred method. For the best flavor, use a dark roast bean.
Fill a tall glass to the brim with ice cubes. Pour your homemade cinnamon dolce syrup over the ice. If you prefer a less sweet drink, start with half the syrup and add more to taste later.
Pour the hot espresso or strong coffee over the ice and syrup. Immediately follow with the milk of your choice. Watch as the coffee and milk swirl together for that beautiful marbled effect.
Stir the drink well to ensure the syrup is fully incorporated. Top with a generous swirl of whipped cream and a light dusting of cinnamon sugar if desired. Serve immediately with a straw.
